1915 Aluminum Canteen
1915 Aluminum Canteen
I have been drawn to more utilitarian metals lately when accessorizing a room... like pressed aluminum and pewter and “restaurant” silver. This elegant canteen is so beautiful in that its only slightly bowed in the “belly” (which is why they called it a Pancake Canteen), and has this wonderful shield engraving telling the owner a little bit about where it’s been. For having been through the war… literally (WW1), it still has a great shine to it . I love to use my “silver” pieces like this one, placed in bookcases and on shelves to brighten a spot and give it some polish. 10” tall to the handle x 8’ wide x 2” deep.
